After forty years of international negotiations and political wrangling, the average global and ocean temperatures are still growing, as is carbon usage. The urgent problem of climate change calls for coordinated action.

The invisible nature of climate change makes it hard for humans to pursue change. Since the 1970s, we have ignored scientific warnings on climate change and grown to mistrust the experts. Politicians, too, are divided on climate change, with Democrats and environmentalists favoring action while Republicans and corporate backers oppose it. However, climate action affects communities, the economy, health, and technology. Overcoming ideas of who is good and bad calls for a different set of abilities, as does a different sort of listening.
