The Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act, introduced by U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow, aims to pass the 2024 Farm Bill by the end of this year. The legislation, which includes over 100 bills supported by both Democrats and Republicans, addresses issues such as foreign farmland ownership, rural community dedication, farm safety net investments, the relevance of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and climate-smart conservation practices. The Act has been a result of two years of collaborative efforts by the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and the work of Senators on and off the Committee. It also ensures the relevance of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to the current American lifestyle.
