On January 27th, Southeast Center for Cooperative Development will be in Brownsville, TN hosting a press conference and community meeting, with lunch provided, from 11AM-1PM CST. The goal of the event is to share information about worker-owned businesses, the history of cooperative economics throughout the South, and opportunities for residents to develop their own worker-owned businesses over the course of the next year. Worker-owned cooperatives (co-ops) are for-profit businesses that are collectively owned and managed by the employees of the business.
The Southeast Center for Cooperative Development (SEC4CD) is a cooperative development center based in Nashville, TN which offers programs to support co-ops with education, technical assistance, and funding. With grant support from the USDA, SEC4CD has funding to offer these programs free of charge to residents in and around Mason, Brownsville, and Stanton throughout the next year.
