Budgeting while maintaining a healthy diet can be difficult, but there are practical solutions.

You can prevent needless purchases by organizing your meals and creating a grocery list based on what you already have. Shop around the perimeter of the store, where whole foods are typically found, and stick to your list. You can choose the ingredients you use in your food and cook for less money when you cook at home and do not eat out. To save money and time, make large portions of food and save the leftovers for later meals.

To prevent yourself from making impulsive purchases, avoid shopping when you’re hungry. Whole foods like whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables are more economical and more nutrient-dense, so choose them instead of processed foods. Purchasing generic brands can also result in cost savings without compromising quality.

Steer clear of highly processed foods, as they are typically more costly and low in nutrients. Little changes can have a big impact on maintaining a healthy diet when money is tight.
