The U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing over $3 billion in funding to agricultural producers and forest landowners to participate in voluntary conservation programs and adopt climate-smart practices. The funds are provided through the Inflation Reduction Act, which invests an additional $19.5 billion in the USDA’s conservation programs.
The funding aims to meet producer demand, maximize climate benefits, and provide other environmental benefits. Common-sense practices such as cover crops, waste and fertilizer management, and grazing practices will be invested in. The additional investments are expected to help hundreds of thousands of farmers and ranchers apply conservation to millions of acres of land, providing direct climate mitigation benefits and expanding access to financial and technical assistance.
Applications will be accepted by the USDA until November 13th via Grants.gov
